What we do..............

Established in 1991, we provide a bespoke daycare service for children and young people who have Additional Support Needs as a result of diagnosed Learning Disabilities, Developmental Delay and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Based in Arbroath, we currently provide a service to around 70 children from all over the Angus Area, who are aged between 5 and 18 yrs and have varying degrees of disability. At present, we also have a waiting list of around 30.

When....................

We mainly operate during the Easter, Summer & Autumn holidays but do offer one-off outings and other activities during term time too. We are hoping to provide a service for young adults and pre-school-age children soon.

Why we do what we do ..................

Children and young people who have disabilities often experience barriers to participating in many fun, educational and other activities generally designed for the mainstream children and young people in our society, resulting in less opportunity to share fun experiences with friends, develop life skills and establish important peer connections, which often creates a feeling of social isolation. The school holidays can also be a difficult time for families of children who have additional support needs, particularly where there is more than one child in the home or where parents still have to work. Childcare can also be expensive and is generally not readily available for many of our children.

At Angus Special Playscheme, we aim to provide care and support tailored to each child's individual needs, and in such a way that allows parents/carers to work as normal, spend meaningful time with their other children or simply just enjoy some well-deserved downtime. We have a proven track record, which shows that our families value the service we offer and know that while their children are with us, they have fun, are safe and are included in all aspects of the service and its development. And all for an affordable daily fee.

We match our younger children on a one-to-one basis with a member of our team and with the range of activities and trips on offer to our children, we are able to get to know them really well, allowing us to easily identify their likes, dislikes, strengths and all aspects of their personalities.
